The first 12 weeks
This is the timeline I actually live. It is not a chart I copied from a book.
My nursery
I raise my own kittens in a nursery, separate from the rest of the house.
That is where the first weeks happen. It stays quieter and warmer than the rest of the house. Newborns live on their mom. They nurse and they sleep. I do not parade them through the house in those days.
Newborn days
The first days are quiet on purpose. Eyes stay shut. They stay on mom. A Sphynx newborn cannot hold heat the way a fluffy kitten can, so the nursery and the mom do that work.
I am not going to give you a weight chart or a temperature log I do not keep on this page. What I can tell you is they stay in that nursery, separate from the rest of the house, until they are ready for more.
Eyes
Eyes open between 4 and 7 days. That is the window I see in my nursery.
Until then they are still mostly a pile of kittens on a mom. After their eyes open they start to look around. They are still on milk. I do not rush that part.
Weaning
Weaning is not a day on a calendar I circled. It overlaps litter training. They start tasting what the house already eats, and they still go back to mom.
Dry stays out. Wet or raw is the part that runs on a schedule. Some of my adults will not touch canned food and love dry instead. Kittens can be picky too. I keep more than one kind down so someone actually eats.
Litter
I start litter training around 5 to 6 weeks.
That is also when most kittens start taking food besides milk. I free-feed dry here. Canned or raw goes out three times a day. I am not going to invent a different kitten menu on this page. Sphynx cat food is where I wrote what I actually put down.
First bath
I give the first bath at 9 weeks.
Sphynx kittens get oily the way the adults do. I wait until they are steady on their feet. I do not use a special cat shampoo. Waterless shampoo is what I use at my house.
People, and why they stay
The weeks after they leave mom are why I do not send them home at eight weeks. They stay here until 12. They get handled. They see people.
A Sphynx that goes home too early is still a baby, and this breed wants company. I look for a home with time, or a house that already has other animals in it. I wrote that out on Sphynx personality and on How they travel.
Time with mom
They stay with mom until 8 to 10 weeks. I let that depend on the mom.
That time is not decoration. They learn to eat, use a box, and be a cat from her. I do not pull them early because someone wants a younger kitten.
Pictures
I send a picture and a video every 2 weeks. I usually do that on Saturday.
Pictures make them look bigger than they are. I tell families to remember that when they pick from a photo.

I got my Lil angel last Saturday and she is the sweetest craziest baby. The seller was incredible at keeping me in touch till we picked her up. Even after she has been amazing. Will recommend to anyone wanting one of these babies.

The first months at your house
The first months are not a new set of rules. Heat, company, and the weekly upkeep I already wrote on Sphynx cat care.
I keep my house at 76. I find 72 too cold. A kitten should not be alone more than 2 to 4 hours on most days unless other animals live there. Those are already on my other pages. I will not invent a new number here.
If you want the week in one list, the first-year checklist is the thing I send after you give me your email. Baths, ears, nails, heat, and food.
Go-home week
They go home at 12 weeks. In go-home week I trim nails and I give a bath.
That is the kitten you actually pick up, not the photo from week six. Nails and a bath are the last things I do before they leave. Their shots are not finished on that day. They still need one more vaccine after they leave me, and rabies at 16 weeks.
I got 2 cats from unfurgettable Sphynx!! They were full vaccinated and healthy kittens!! She bathed and cut their nails prior to being picked up. She was so helpful throughout the whole time and even after I picked up by two babies. They were litter trained and chipped! I would totally recommend getting a baby from her!!

Some kittens come later
Some kittens are raised here the whole time. Some come from partner breeders at 10 weeks.
Those live with me for 14 days. They still go home at 12 weeks.
